A bevy of student-athletes from Minnesota State Mankato will participate in this year’s Night to Unite scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 31.
During the Night to Unite event, Mankato residents lock their doors, turn on their outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and city staff. During this time, many neighborhoods throughout Mankato host a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, parades, police visits, flashlight walks, contests, youth activities and anti-crime rallies.
Maverick football, women’s soccer and volleyball players will be appearing throughout Mankato from 6-9:00 p.m. in Highland Park, Washington Park and at the Lincoln Community Center, getting to know community members, assisting with crime prevention awareness and handing out schedules and other information regarding Minnesota State Mankato Athletics.
“We sincerely appreciate the opportunity extended to us by Todd Miller (Mankato’s director of public safety) to be involved in this event,” said Peter McGahey, head coach women’s soccer. “We’re really looking forward to interacting and bonding with folks in the Mankato community.”
