Christina Miller (orange jersey) and Minnesota State women's soccer player Tori Meinhardt race for a ball tossed by coach Peter McGahey during a clinic with the Mankato United TOPSoccer program Friday.
Christina Miller was eager to match her skills with Minnesota State Mankato women’s soccer players Friday afternoon during a clinic put on by the team.
While she might not be ready for a starting spot on the Mavericks’ roster yet, she got to show them how much she loved the game and how well she could play. In return, she learned a move or two from the players during the clinic.
Miller is part of the Mankato United TOPSoccer program. TOPSoccer teaches soccer skills to students in the Mankato area with special needs. The program emphasizes player development rather than competition and places students on teams by ability rather than age. Their season usually consists of four to six practices followed by four to six games and a tournament experience.
