Joseph Kunkel, Thomas Gjersvig named Fulbright Scholars

Joseph Kunkel will study in Germany and Thomas Gjersvig will study in Korea as Fulbright Scholars.

WASHINGTON — Faculty members from three area higher education institu­tions have been awarded Fulbright Scholarships.

Cindy Johnson-Groh of Gustavus Adolphus College will study in Tanzania; Joseph Kunkel of Minnesota State University, Mankato will study in Germany; and Thomas Gjersvig, also of Minnesota State Mankato, will study in Korea.

The Fulbright Scholarship is America’s flagship international exchange program. It is sponsored by the U. S.

Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

The program’s purpose is to build mutual under­standing between the peo­ple of the United States and the people of other countries.
