Dawn Campbell, sex trafficking outreach coordinator for the Minnesota Indian Women’s Resource Center, will discuss “Trafficking of American Indian Women” in a presentation on Monday November 15, 2010. Campbell’s presentation, sponsored by Women’s Center, American Indian Studies, Anthropology, Social Work and the Violence Awareness & Response Program, will be at 2 p.m. in Room 284 of Centennial Student Union. It is free and open to students, faculty, staff and the public.
As outreach coordinator for the Indian Women’s Resource Center, Campbell builds relationships with policymakers and American Indian tribes and collaborates with other organizations. She also explains the “Shattered Hearts” report, an Indian Women’s Resource Center study of the commercial sexual exploitation of American Indian women and girls. Campbell is an alumna of the Wellstone Fellows program and a Native American Religious Activities volunteer at the Bureau of Prisons Federal Medical Center in Rochester. She is an enrolled member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe.
