The award-winning a cappella group InPulse will perform at Minnesota State Mankato Sunday, Jan. 30, showcasing a multitude of genres, from pop to rock, country to hip hop, and jazz to R&B.

The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. in Elias J. Halling Recital Hall of the Performing Arts Center.
The four-member vocal band performs entirely without instruments. InPulse has toured nationally since the band’s launch in 2003.

The group traces its origins to the St. Olaf College Limestones, a student a cappella group with classical training. The group now works to create a sound featuring stunning solos, harmonious blends and driving rhythms.

Matt McDonald, baritone of the group and native of Sydney, Australia, calls the sound “a pop feel infused with classic training and old-school doo-wop.”

InPulse was named grand champion of the 2004 Rocky Mountain Harmony Sweepstakes, and has sold more than 25,000 copies of three albums.

The group also strives to educate high school students about a cappella music through the InPulse Educational Outreach.

Concert admission is $12; $11 for students with a valid MavCard. Discount tickets are available online for university students. Those who wish to purchase tickets online may go to www.mnsu.edu/music. Those who want more information may call the Performance Series office at (507) 389-5549.

Minnesota State Mankato, a comprehensive, doctoral university with 15,393 students, is part of the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities system, which comprises 32 institutions across the state.
