More than three decades of Vietnamese-American presence at Minnesota State Mankato will be celebrated Thursday, Feb. 3, in observance of TET, the Vietnamese New Year.

The annual celebration, sponsored by the university’s Vietnamese-American Student Association, will be from 6-9 p.m. in the Centennial Student Union Ballroom. It will include a display of Vietnamese art, a fashion show, a dance, entertainment, dinner and discussions.

“Traveling Back to Vietnam” is the theme of this year’s celebration, which will illustrate what it means to be Vietnamese-American.

James Huy Bao, founder and executive director of OneVietnam Network, will present the evening’s keynote speech. Bao was born in Vietnam and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area when he was 9, attending the University of California, Berkeley. His year-old OneVietnam Network is the largest Vietnamese-American network.

Tickets for the celebration are available at the Office of Multicultural Affairs. Those who have questions may contact Tuan Pham, president of the Vietnamese-American Student Association, at tuan.pham@mnsu.edu or (763) 227-6082.
