Jody Thompson, author of the book Business Week proclaimed “The Year’s Best Book on Work-Life Balance,” will share her insights on how to change the way you think about your job, your company, and your life at Minnesota State Mankato’s “Big Ideas Speakers Series” Tuesday, March 22, at Ostrander Auditorium in the Centennial Student Union.

Thompson’s highly acclaimed book Why Work Sucks And How To Fix It was a precursor to her partnership with Cali Ressler in founding CultureRx and co-creating the innovative Results-Only Work Environment or ROWE, which will be the focus for her speech.

Presented by the College of Business, the 7:30-9 a.m. event has been designed for forward-thinking leaders, organizational and emerging leaders and the University community. Registration is $15 for business professionals, who will receive 1.5 Continuing Education contact hours (.15 CEUs) for attending. Current MSU Mankato students, faculty and staff will be admitted at no charge. Light refreshments will be provided.

Thompson, a nationally recognized keynote speaker who has presented to numerous Fortune 500 companies and prominent trade associations, plans to speak on how changing the foundation of how the workplace operates can drive out out-of-date, antiquated practices that hurt most businesses. ROWE, she says, is the only game that makes sense to move an organization into the future.

Featured on the covers of BusinessWeek, Workforce Management, HR,and Hybrid Mom, she and her program also have been the focus of articles in the New York Times, TIME, USA Today, and on Good Morning America, CNBC and CNN.

Those who want more information may contact Jean Clarke at (507) 389-2572 or www.mnsu.edu/ext/cpe. Co-sponsoring the event with the College of Business are the College of Extended Learning, the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation, Greater Mankato Growth, Sodexo and The Free Press.

Minnesota State Mankato, a comprehensive, doctoral university with 15,393 students, is part of the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities system.
