Greg Light will discuss “The puzzle of teaching: implications for today’s university” in a Global Solutions Lecture at Minnesota State University, Mankato Thursday, March 24.

The lecture, free and open to students, faculty, staff and the public, is sponsored by the Minnesota State Mankato Honors Program and will be at 7 p.m. in Armstrong Hall 102.

Light is director of the Searle Center for Teaching Excellence at Northwestern University and associate professor in the School of Education & Social Policy. His research focuses on student learning and the professional development of teaching on higher education.

He has taught graduate courses, consulted and lectured across North America, Europe and Asia. He has written more than 40 papers and the books “Learning and Teaching in Higher Education: the Reflective Professional” and “Opening the Gates of Science.”

Light and Susanna Calkins, associate director of the Searle Center, will present workshops for Minnesota State Mankato faculty members on Friday, March 25.
