Call it the start of something unique. Or newfound interest in an age-old sport. Or simply a mini-resurgence of a once popular pasttime.
Whatever label you chose to apply, the sport of handball has been piquing the interest of some local high school and college-aged players the last few years in Mankato.
The trend is being led by Minnesota State Mankato faculty member Mike Wells and members of the university's national-championship student handball team.
