Alliss Foundation gives $156,343 for scholarships

Some 200 scholarships will be distributed to Minnesota State University, Mankato students in the 2011-2012 academic year as the result of a $156,343 grant to the university from the Charles and Ellora Alliss Educational Foundation.

The scholarships, for full-time undergraduate students from Minnesota, are awarded annually at Minnesota State Mankato as the result of an Alliss Educational Foundation gift to the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities system.

Scholarships for $350 to $1,100 per academic year are granted to full-time undergraduate students. The foundation was created in 1960 through a bequest from former 3M executive Charles Clifford Alliss, and supports scholarships to Minnesota residents who demonstrate financial need and meet specific grade-point or high school rank criteria.

Minnesota State Mankato, a comprehensive, doctoral university with 15,393 students, is part of the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities system, which comprises 32 state institutions.
