Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Theatre & Dance News Release [4-8-11]

The Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Theatre & Dance will close its 2010-11 Studio season with Bryony Lavery’s play 'Frozen' at 7:30 p.m. April 25-27 in the Andreas Theatre, Performing Arts Center. These are rescheduled dates.

Three people are drawn together after 10-year-old Rhona goes missing one evening. Her mother, Nancy, retreats into a state of paralytic hope, “frozen,” in the expectation her daughter will be returned safe and sound. Agnetha, an academic, comes to England to research a thesis titled “Serial Killings: A Forgiveable Act?” Ralph, a loner with a bit of a record, has been looking for some distraction. These three embark upon a long, dark journey that finally curves upward into the light. This play was nominated for the 2004 Best Play Tony.

'Frozen' is directed by Adam Karal Sahli, a first-year MFA Directing candidate, who earlier this year appeared on stage as Menelaus in 'The Odyssey.' Ralph is portrayed by Anthony DePoto, a second-year MFA Acting candidate who received Kennedy Center American College Theater Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship nominations for performances in 'Twelve Angry Men' and 'On the Razzle,' earning semifinalist honors at January’s Region V Festival. Agnetha is played by Sara Pillatzki-Warzeha, a second-year MFA Acting candidate who earned a KCACTF Irene Ryan nomination as Maria in last season’s “Twelfth Night.”

Individual tickets for 'Frozen' are $9.00 regular, $8.00 for senior citizens, youth 16 and under and groups of 15 or more and $7.00 for current Minnesota State students.
