The 270-pound marvel of concrete engineering was built, after all, by students in Minnesota State Mankato's civil engineering program.
And not only that, this baby is a competition winner. Best in show, if you will. Except, in this case, it’s best in design.
“We have some pretty big innovations this year,” said Minnesota State Mankato junior Shelby Sovell.
Since 2004, student members of Minnesota State Mankato's chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers have competed in the National Concrete Canoe Competition.
And typically, they’ve competed without much luck.
