Three faculty and staff members from HAN University of Applied Sciences
in the Netherlands will visit Mankato this week to learn how Minnesota State University, Mankato integrates research into its teaching.

This week Minnesota State Mankato faculty and staff will discuss how research can enhance undergraduate teaching and learning, and how Minnesota State Mankato and HAN can increase collaboration on automotive technology research.

The HAN representatives will meet Wednesday through Saturday, May 18-21, with a dozen representatives from the Colleges of Science, Engineering & Technology, Graduate Studies & Research, Social & Behavioral Sciences and Arts & Humanities.

HAN, with campuses in Arnhem and Nijmegen, Netherlands, provides 64 bachelor’s majors and 21 master’s programs to 29,700 students from throughout the world. It is known internationally for its automotive institute and its business school, and offers courses in education, commerce, communication, law, economics, engineering, IT and Communication and nursing.

Eric Holtman, dean of HAN’s Academy of Communication and Information Technology, will visit with HAN communication and information technology faculty member Frits Feldbrugge and international coordinator Dick Groeneveld.

During the four-day visit they will meet with John Knox, dean of Minnesota State Mankato’s College of Science, Engineering & Technology; Bruce Jones, chair of automotive and manufacturing engineering; Maria-Claudia Tomany, assistant VP for undergraduate studies and international education; Caryn Lindsay, international programs director; Chris Mickle, graduate studies director; Leon Tietz, Cyrus Azarbod, Mahbubur Syed and Christoph Veltsos, information systems and technology; and Michelle Alvarez, social work.

Minnesota State Mankato, a comprehensive university with 15,393 students, is part of the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities system, which comprises 32 state institutions.
