Minnesota State University, Mankato and Dakota County Technical College will jointly host a barbeque Saturday, June 18, in Mankato to promote post-secondary education to underrepresented students.
The free, public event, from 3-6 p.m. at Alexander Park in Mankato (900 Main St.), is part of a 12-month Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system campaign to increase higher education opportunity and access for underrepresented groups. At Minnesota State Mankato it is being coordinated by the Institutional Diversity Office.
The campaign partners with community businesses – particularly barber shops, beauty salons and nail/wig shops with a high patronage of underrepresented groups – to introduce higher education as a viable option for personal and career development.
