Homecoming week at Minnesota State University began with a history lesson.
Marian Anderson’s commissioned painting “Journey,” which depicts Minnesota State Mankato's rise from a frontier school to a doctoral university, was placed in the Centennial Student Union Ballroom during a ceremony Monday.
“Journey” is the first painting completed by Anderson in four years and is part of a series of Mankato montages. It was installed permanently in the new Ballroom lobby, which is part of the Ballroom renovation to be completed in October.
The event served as the kickoff to Minnesota State Mankato's homecoming week, which culminates with a football game against Winona State at 2 p.m. Saturday.
