Two-band benefit concert 16 to raise funds

Local bands The Noble Gases and Dr. Lee and the Terminally Chill will perform in Mankato Wednesday, Nov. 16, to raise awareness about hunger and homelessness.

Minnesota State Mankato’s Music Management and Concert Production class is organizing the “Rock Away Hunger” event, to be held at Red Sky Lounge from 7-10:30 p.m. All proceeds will go to the Campus Kitchen Program in support of National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, which is this week.

People of all ages are invited to the show from 7-9 p.m., and those 21 and older are invited from 9-10:30 p.m. Admission will be $3 or two non-perishable canned goods.

Corporate sponsors of the event include Red Sky Lounge, Radio Mankato, KMSU The Maverick, The Free Press and Johnny F! Productions.

Campus Kitchen is a student and community volunteer organization that recovers and prepares food to be delivered to local underprivileged citizens and families. The Minnesota State Mankato Campus Kitchen serves more than 11,000 meals in Mankato each year with the help of donations from local restaurants, University Dining Services and community members.
