The “Year of the Dragon” lunar new year will be celebrated with international entertainment and Vietnamese food Saturday, Jan. 21.

The “Year of the Dragon” lunar new year will be celebrated with international entertainment and Vietnamese food Saturday, Jan. 21, at Minnesota State Mankato.
Saturday’s celebration will be from 6-9 p.m. in the Centennial Student Union Ballroom.
The event is sponsored by Minnesota State Mankato’s Vietnamese American Student Association, and is intended as an opportunity to share the Vietnamese cultural heritage with others.
Entertainment will include a fashion show, a skit, a traditional hat dance, ribbon dance and lion dance, singing and more.
The lunar calendar, used by China, Vietnam, India and some other countries to set national holidays, is based on cycles of the moon.
Tickets for the event are $5 in advance and $7 at the door. Advance tickets may be purchased by contacting Vietnamese American Student Association President Baoduy Phung at (952)232-7819 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
