Students, faculty and staff from Minnesota’s two largest state universities – St. Cloud State and Minnesota State Mankato – will face off on treadmills from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, at both campuses in the third “Treadmill-A-Thon” between the schools.

Participants will vie to determine which school can accumulate the greatest number of miles on a treadmill in four hours. At the end of the event, sponsored by campus recreation departments at both schools, the campus with the most accumulated miles will be declared champions and earn a traveling trophy. Minnesota State Mankato won the first matchup between the schools in April 2011, but St. Cloud State won by less than a mile in a rematch in November.

Minnesota State Mankato students, faculty and staff members will compete on one treadmill in Otto Recreation Center of Taylor Center. Sessions range from a minimum of 15 minutes and maximum of 30 minutes. Students, faculty and staff can register during the event at Otto Rec Center or ahead of time by calling (507) 389-3269 or stopping by HC 1410.

Those who want more information may call Jen Myers, fitness and wellness coordinator for Minnesota State Mankato’s Campus Recreation Department, at (507) 389-3269.

As the event progresses Myers will post progress reports on the campus recreation Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/people/Campus-Rec/1548907367.

Minnesota State Mankato, a comprehensive university with 15,649 students, is part of the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities system, which comprises 32 state institutions.
