Minnesota State wasted little time promoting the Mike Hastings era.
On Sunday, the university unveiled its home hockey schedule for the 2012-13 season, and season- ticket packages and Blue Line Club memberships currently are for sale.
A flyer promoting ticket sales was distributed at Monday morning’s press conference introducing Hastings as the Mavericks’ new coach.
“It’s safe to say that the interest is definitely there, compared to a normal April,” said Tim Marshall, MSU’s associate athletic director for fiscal affairs and operations. “We’re definitely getting calls from new people and people renewing.”
Hastings’ first game behind the bench at the Verizon Wireless Center will be an exhibition against the University of Lethbridge on Oct. 7.
His first regular-season home series will be Oct.19-20 against Rensselaer.
Minnesota State also has home series against Denver (Nov. 9-10), Bemidji State (Nov. 30-Dec. 1), Alaska Anchorage (Dec. 7-8), Providence (Jan. 4-5), Wisconsin (Jan. 11-12), Michigan Tech (Feb. 15-16) and North Dakota (March 8-9).
The Mavericks will play two home-and-home series against Minnesota, with the Mankato games taking place Nov. 3 and Jan. 26.
Minnesota State will open the regular season Oct. 12-13 at Alabama Huntsville. The Mavericks will also play road series at St. Cloud State, Wisconsin, Nebraska Omaha, Alaska Anchorage, Minnesota Duluth and Colorado College, as well as a late-December tournament at Connecticut.
