A ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony for the brand new 2,000-square foot indoor climbing wall at Minnesota State University, Mankato was held today during the 2012 Campus and Community Fair within the Myers Field House.

Attending the dedication were President Davenport, the Greater Mankato Growth Mankato Ambassadors, Campus Recreation and the Adventure Education Program.

This summer Minnesota State Mankato completed construction of the large indoor rock climbing facility within the existing Myers Field House on campus. The wall operated by the Adventure Education Program & Campus Recreation boasts climbing for beginners through experts, and activities for all ages. In just five days of operation this past week (Welcome Week for new Minnesota State Mankato students) we have seen over 600 climbers!

The new wall will remain open year-round, adding a great activity to the region during designated hours for students and community members. This wall is the largest climbing center in south central Minnesota. It is a great place for families, kids, teens, adults and college students to learn how to climb and start a life-long activity. Come enjoy the challenge on our new state-of-the-art facility while having fun, getting a great physical workout, and learning a new activity. Rental climbing gear (everything you’ll need to climb--harness, climbing shoes, carabineers, and belay devices) is included in pass prices. No prior experience is necessary and staff will be glad to show you the ropes. Watch for clinics, climbing camps for youth and adults and even climbing competitions coming up in the near future!
