MANKATO, Minn. -- Singer/Songwriter Alison Scott will offer a free workshop titled The Art of Songwriting on Wednesday, October 10 at Minnesota State Mankato. The workshop will begin at 6:30 p.m. in PA 109 of the Earley Center for Performing Arts, 320 Maywood Ave.
The Art of Songwriting Workshop is designed for anyone interested in songwriting or music publishing. The workshop’s goal is to demystify the process of songwriting and music publishing and explain the realities of how to write songs and how to get paid for doing it, the two most misunderstood parts of the music business.
Alison Scott’s releases have sold 10,000 units and counting. Her new album, “Hiding Under The Covers, Vol. 2″ was released in June 2012 and features collaborations with Communist Daughter and Chris Koza.
Joining Alison at the workshop will be Singer/Songwriter/Producer Kevin Bowe. Bowe’s songs have been featured in film and television including The Sopranos, Where The Heart Is, Steal This Movie, The Tonight Show, Letterman, Boston Public, The Young & the Restless, Austin City Limits, ESPN, VH1, CMT and MTV. Bowe has been a regular supplier of music for ESPN for the last 10 years.
Contact Dale Haefner, 507-389-5549 or email email@example.com if you are interested in having one of your songs critiqued by Alison Scott and Kevin Bowe. Scott and Bowe will be able to give you instant feedback on how to improve your craft.
This activity is made possible by a grant provided by the Cultural Heritage fund as appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.
Free parking is available in Lot 16 after 6:30 PM. For more information, call the Performance Series office, (507) 389-5549.
