March 16, 17, 19: Men's Basketball NCAA Div. II Central Regional
Mavericks host eight-team regional starting Saturday.

Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State men’s basketball yeam, which won the regular season and tournament championships of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, has earned the right to host its third NCAA Division II Central Region Tournament of the last four seasons.

The NCAA Central Region is made up of teams from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC), Great American Conference (GAC) and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA).
As the #1 seed, MSU will take on Arkansas Tech (GAC) which stands 18-11, in the opening round Saturday at 5 p.m. Second seed Winona State (NSIC) squares off with seventh-seeded Northeastern State (MIAA) at 2:30 p.m. Third seed Augustana (NSIC) will take on sixth seed Upper Iowa (NSIC) at 12 p.m., while four seed Central Missouri (MIAA) plays fifth seed Harding (GAC) at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets for the regional are $15 for reserved seats, $10 for adults and $5 for senior citizens, children (ages 5-17) and college students with valid student IDs. Tickets can be purchased online at msumavericktickets.com beginning Monday, at 12 p.m. Tickets will not be mailed but fans have the option of printing their own tickets online or they will be available for pick-up at the MSU Athletics Office between the hours of 8 a.m., and 4 p.m. Tickets that are not picked up can be claimed at Taylor Center Will Call on the day of the game. Online ticket availability closes at 9 p.m., the day prior to each session.
WOMEN'S TEAM TO PLAY IN REGIONAL IN TOPEKA
Like the men's team, the Minnesota State women's basketball team also qualified for the NCAA Division II Central Region tournament, but the women will play on the road on the campus of Washburn University in Topeka, Kan.
The fourth-seeded Mavericks (25-5), who will be making their fifth NCAA Tournament appearance, will tip off Friday at 8 p.m. against fifth-seeded Arkansas Tech (23-6).
Arkansas Tech won the Great American Conference title (GAC) in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Central Region tournament.
The Mavericks will be joined at the regional by fellow NSIC members Concordia-St. Paul and Augustana, which earned the third and sixth seeds, respectively. Those two teams will play each other in the tournament’s opening round.
Other NCAA Division II Central Region Pairings include top-seeded Washburn doing battle with eighth-seeded Emporia and second seed Central Missouri facing seventh seed Southwest Oklahoma State.
The tournament quarterfinals will take place Friday, March 15, semifinals on Saturday, March 16, and the championship will be on Monday, March 18. All regional games will be played on the campus of Washburn University in Topeka, Kan.
