Davenport led a delegation of Minnesota State Mankato administrators and faculty members on a trip to China in early December to visit Chinese universities and public schools for the purposes of establishing partnerships and recruiting students.

The two cities included Tongxiang in Zhejiang Province and Yongcheng in Henan Province. Anderson signed memorandums of understanding with each city that establishes them as “sister cities” to Mankato.

During the December trip, Davenport delivered a keynote address at the Eleventh Overseas Investment Strategy Forum sponsored by the Western Returned Scholars Association at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. He discussed the importance of globalization and new trends in education.

Founded in 1913, the Western Returned Scholars Association is a Chinese government-affiliated entity consisting of more than 40,000 Chinese scholars and researchers who have studied abroad. Its website is at http://www.wrsa.net/.

Minnesota State Mankato, a comprehensive university with 15,413 students, is part of the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities system, which comprises 31 state institutions.
