Minnesota State University, Mankato Media Relations Office News Release, 8-6-2013
Mankato, Minn. – Mankato-based data management provider FPX, LLC, recently committed more than $700,000 over the next two years to “Project FPX,” an internship program that provides students in Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Computer Information Science Department real-world experience in the areas of software testing and development.
Project FPX began initially in August 2010, when FPX, LLC agreed to a three-year contract with Minnesota State Mankato, and the two-year extension reflects the success of the program for both students and FPX, LLC, said Michael Wells, director of Project FPX and a Computer Information Science Department faculty member.
Student interns in the program are paid $12 per hour and are given the opportunity to work 20 hours per week during the school year and 40 hours per week during the summer, all the while gaining valuable information systems experience. Work schedules are flexible, and priority is given to student class schedules.
“We are grateful to FPX for their continued commitment to this project,” said Wells. “It’s been very beneficial for students. All of the students who have had an FPX internship have received offers for full-time employment in software testing and development from various companies.”
