Sept. 24: ‘A Call to Men’

Educator and activist Tony Porter to speak on violence awareness, prevention.

Mankato, Minn. – The Violence Awareness & Response (VARP) and Men Against Violence (MAVs) at Minnesota State University, Mankato have invited Tony Porter, co-founder of the non-profit, A CALL TO MEN: The Next Generation of Manhood, to speak to the public about violence awareness and prevention at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24 in Centennial Student Union's Ostrander Auditorium.

Porter (pictured) is an educator and an activist who is nationally recognized for his efforts to end men’s violence against women. Porter is the author of “Well Meaning Men…Breaking Out of the Man Box – Ending Violence Against Women.” Porter has worked with the National Football League and the National Basketball Association, as well as the U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy. Porter has also traveled internationally, lecturing for the U.S. State Department.

Porter will be coming to the Minnesota State Mankato campus to speak to the public about his efforts to end violence against women. The event is free and open to the public.
