Mankato, Minn. -- The Minnesota State University, Mankato men's hockey team will take on the U.S. National Junior Team in an exhibition game at 7:37 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17 at the Verizon Wireless Center.
Admission to the game is free for all children 17 years old and younger. To claim free ticket(s), print out the flyer at this link, cut out the coupon and present it at the ticket window on Tuesday night. Repeat as necessary (one coupon per child).

The Mavericks (11-7-0 overall, 9-3-0 WCHA) are on a seven-game regular season winning streak after sweeping a weekend series at Alabama-Huntsville. Minnesota State Mankato defeated the Chargers by identical 4-1 scores on both Friday and Saturday.
The U.S. National Junior Team is composed of 29 of the top under-20 year old U.S.-born players in the country. Twenty-three of those players will be chosen for the team that will represent the United States at the World Junior Championship, held from Dec. 26-Jan. 5 in Malmo, Sweden. The current 29 rostered players include 26 NHL Draft picks, nine of whom were were selected in the 1st or 2nd rounds.
One of the 29 players on the U.S. National Junior Team is Mavericks freshman forward Derek Stepan (pictured above) from Hastings, Minn. Stepan has played in 14 games for the Mavericks, scoring four goals and tallying four assists.
The U.S. Junior National Team had its first practice Sunday at Mariucci Arena and will have two practices today (Monday, Dec. 16) before its exhibition game against the Mavericks on Tuesday.

After Tuesday's game, the Mavericks will be off until Friday, Jan. 3, when they open a four-game road trip in Alaska. Minnesota State Mankato will begin that road trip with a two-game series (Jan. 3-4) against the University of Alaska Fairbanks in Fairbanks, Alaska. The Mavericks will follow that up with a two-game series (Jan. 10-11) against the University of Alaska Anchorage in Anchorage, Alaska.
