Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate student Amanda Crary’s art work will be on display in a thesis exhibit titled “All Things in All Ways” from Monday, Feb. 24 through Wednesday, March 5 in Minnesota State Mankato’s Conkling Gallery.

Crary’s exhibit is free and open to the public, and her work will be on display at 139 Nelson Hall, the Conkling Gallery, during gallery hours (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday).

There will be a public reception for Crary at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24 at the Conkling Gallery.

Crary’s exhibit has been submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a master of arts degree at Minnesota State Mankato. Her work may be viewed at

In an excerpt from Crary’s artist’s statement on her website, Crary says about her work: “Today, our obliviousness to nonhuman nature is severing a great connection to the earth and our senses. My work explores this important connectedness; repetition of organic marks, fragile lines, layers, washes, and translucency begin to cradle brief happenings of the exterior world and the interior self.

“By layering a mixture of media from printmaking to painting and drawing, I am able to create a depth of mark-making and texture that emulates the organic variety found in nature. I use photographs and sketches gathered from hiking excursions as starting points; then, the most attractive lines and marks are recreated and repeated which yields reactionary layers to edit.”
