April 5: Sustainability Expo
Event to run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Centennial Student Union Ballroom.

Mankato, Minn. – A Sustainability Expo featuring speakers, workshops, live music, kid-friendly activities, door prizes and more than 25 participating community organizations will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 5 in Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Centennial Student Union Ballroom.
The event is free and open to the public, and parking on campus is free during the event.
The goal of the Sustainability Expo is to help educate and inform community members on how they can be more resilient and environmentally sustainable in the face of the challenges of energy depletion, climate change and economic challenges.
Visitors will be able to learn about local sustainable activities, green services, natural products, community projects, and local businesses and community organizations will be showcased in the ballroom. Other activities include speaker panels on a variety of topics, including sustainable food production, recycling and home waste reduction, supporting local art, local energy production, natural health and wellness and more.
Workshops will be held on bike maintenance and non-toxic home cleaners, and there will be a two-hour do-it-yourself solar air heater demonstration.
Local music will be provided by the Mankato Area Community Band, singer/songwriter Jason Helder, and the popular musical team, Ocho and Betty. The Expo will conclude with a presentation on local sustainability initiatives by the City of Mankato and Minnesota State Mankato’s Environmental Committee.
