Mankato, Minn. – Aaron Owens of Hopkins, Minn., received the 2014 Distinguished Young Alumni Award from Minnesota State University, Mankato last week.

Owens (pictured), a project lead in the bio-mechanical engineering field at BOSE Corporation in Eden Prairie, Minn., is one of eight 2014 alumni award winners. He was honored at an April 25 ceremony hosted by the Minnesota State Mankato Alumni Association.

Owens graduated from Minnesota State Mankato in 2005 with bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and mechanical engineering and was quickly hired by BOSE Corporation as an intern.

He was soon promoted to a project lead, and in that position, Owens leads a project with a team of members from various disciplines, such as marketing, engineering design, software development and manufacturing. He filed for three patents in 2008, all of which were awarded in 2010. Owens was the principle inventor for two of the three patents.

Owens’ job has taken him to Japan, England, China and Hong Kong in order to equip researchers with the systems he has designed.

He currently plans to continue making advances in biomedical engineering with BOSE, where he hopes to equip researchers with the tools needed for advancements in biomedical tissue engineering, 3D organ printing and cell stimulation that will improve health and life for all.
