Todd Pfingsten Receives Distinguished Alumni Award

Award presented at April 25 ceremony.

Mankato, Minn. – Todd Pfingsten of Mankato, Minn., who grew up and graduated from high school in Worthington, Minn., received the 2014 Distinguished Alumni Fitterer Service Award from Minnesota State University, Mankato last week.

Pfingsten (pictured), director of Campus Recreation at Minnesota State Mankato, is one of eight 2014 alumni award winners. He was honored at an April 25 ceremony hosted by the Minnesota State Mankato Alumni Association.

Fitterer Service Awards go to graduates who have given distinguished service to Minnesota State Mankato and have used their time, treasure and talents to preserve and promote university programs.

Pfingsten graduated from Minnesota State Mankato in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance and while an undergraduate began working in Campus Recreation. The position inspired him to go on and earn a master’s degree in physical education and sports administration in 1993 from Minnesota State Mankato.

The director of Campus Recreation since 1999, Pfingsten has been a vital asset to Minnesota State Mankato. He has been a key member in the development of the new indoor and outdoor Campus Recreation facilities, and he oversees staff, facilities, programs and services related to intramural sports as well as open recreation, fitness activities, sports clubs and adventure education.

Pfingsten remains passionate about his work at Campus Rec and at the university itself.

“It’s really home – Minnesota State Mankato is a great place,” said Pfingsten.
