Aug. 30: Emergency Network Outage Scheduled

Upgrades to campus network are scheduled from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30.

MESSAGE FROM ED CLARK, VICE PRESIDENT FOR TECHNOLOGY & CIO

ITS must implement an emergency upgrade to the campus network scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 30 from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. Our campus network cores, which undergird critical services such as Internet, phones, email, D2L and business systems for Minnesota State University, Mankato, are at over 90% capacity and need to be upgraded as soon as possible. This upgrade will cause a network outage during the 4-hour upgrade window.

Services that will remain available during the outage:

  • D2L will be available at this address during the downtime: https://mnsu.learn.minnstate.edu. (Please save this URL for future reference)
  • MavCARD - access door locks
  • PALS library system
  • Code Blue emergency phones and elevator emergency phones
  • StarAlert emergency notification system

Services that will not be available during the outage:

All campus networking and network-accessed systems on campus and off campus will be unavailable, including (but not limited to):

  • Wi-Fi and wired networks
  • Campus telephones
  • Voicemail
  • MavMAIL
  • MavPRINT
  • ImageNow
  • MavDISK
  • OneDrive
  • EZ Proxy
  • SharePoint
  • Hydra
  • E-services (registration, financial aid, etc.)

We recommend not working in a lab or any hazardous situation on campus given that there will be no phone service during the upgrade.

An additional email message will be sent upon successful completion of the upgrade.

Leading up to the 4-hour outage, ITS will inform the campus community through daily emails, an up-to-date FAQs, and status updates via Twitter (https://twitter.com/itsmnsu) and Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/itsmsu)
