During the busy school day, students now have an option to do something 'completely different' by participating in the Community Engagement Offices' Reading Buddies. Beginning on October 28, a group of students will meet at the CEO, walk over to the Children's House together, and spend time reading to children. The initiative was created to develop greater opportunities to encourage the love of reading and literacy among youth.

"Cierra really took the initiative to put together this service program. Although it connects her interests, she also thinks it just plain 'sounds like fun' while it's meeting a community need," said Karen Anderson, Interim Assitant Director of Community Engagement.

To qualify to be a Reading Buddy, sign up for the training at our OrgSync site. Once trained, students may sign up to volunteer. For more information, contact Cierra Dillard or Karen Anderson through the Community Engagement Office, 389-5789.
