Alumna Sandra Schnorenberg Appointed Director of Campus Security

Schnorenberg will assume new duties on Aug. 1.

Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management David Jones announced today that Sandra J. Schnorenberg has been appointed director of campus security, effective Aug. 1.

Schnorenberg has 30 years of local law enforcement experience, serving the city of Mankato as a patrol officer from 1986-92 and as a public safety commander since 1992. She has been a Minnesota licensed peace officer since 1986, and in 2007, she earned the designation of certified emergency manager from Minnesota Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

In addition to her work experience with the Mankato Department of Public Safety, Schnorenberg has received specialized training as a field training supervisor, field training officer and sexual assault investigator. She has helped facilitate numerous emergency management exercises, served as a public safety incident commander for a wide variety of community events and has been a frequent public speaker on the subject of public safety.

Schnorenberg earned a bachelor’s degree in law enforcement from Minnesota State Mankato in 1986 and a master’s degree in organizational management from Concordia University in St. Paul in 2005.

Schnorenberg will replace Suzanne Dugan, who is retiring after serving as Minnesota State Mankato’s director of campus security for more than 30 years.

Minnesota State Mankato, a comprehensive university with 15,193 students, is part of the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities system, which comprises 31 state institutions.
