MANKATO – Partly inspired by the Columbine High School shootings in 1999, Scott Z. Burns’ play “The Library” continues to remain a timely play as such tragic events keep happening across the country.
The story follows Caitlin Gabriel who survives a deadly shooting at her high school. She struggles to tell her story to her parents, the authorities and anyone who will listen. But there are other narratives that gain purchase in the media and paint her in a different light.
This bold and chilling play (a Minnesota State University, Mankato premiere) asks us to examine the truth and the lies that claim to heal us.
“The Library,” directed by Andoni Marinos, runs 7:30 p.m. April 19-22 in the Andreas Theatre, Performing Arts Center, Minnesota State Mankato.
Tickets are $10 regular; $9 for seniors ages 65 and older, children under 16 and groups of 15 or more; and $8 for MSU students.
