April 18-21: 'Melancholy Play' is Contemporary Farce

Last play of Theatre & Dance studio season will be staged in Andreas Theatre.

Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Theatre and Dance News Release, 4-11-2018

MANKATO – The 2017-18 Minnesota State University, Mankato Theatre & Dance studio season is ending on a unique note with a contemporary farce about an emotion-driven adventure.

“Melancholy Play,” by Sarah Ruhl, is about a character named Tilly who turns her melancholy into a “sexy thing,” and every stranger she meets falls in love with her. One day, inexplicably, Tilly becomes happy, and she wreaks havoc on the lives of her paramours.

The play runs 7:30 p.m. April 18-21 in Andreas Theatre, Performing Arts Center, Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Directed by Seth Honerman, tickets are $10 regular; $9 for seniors ages 65 and older, children under 16 and groups of 15 or more; and $8 for Minnesota State Mankato students.
