June 26-July 1: 'Shrek' the Musical

Play will be performed in the Ted Paul Theatre.

Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Theatre and Dance News Release, 6-19-2018

In the photo, Lord Farquaad (Gary Scott Du Charme II) meets his future bride Fiona (Ashley Ziegler) for the very first time, after Shrek (Gabriel Sell) has saved her from the Dragon.

MANKATO – Up next for Highland Summer Theatre at Minnesota State University, Mankato, “Shrek” the musical is the final show in the Ted Paul Theatre before a major renovation.

The Ted Paul is getting new, larger seats; a new grand drape; new carpeting; additional wheelchair seating; safety upgrades; and fresh paint. But before the work begins, the theater is being transformed into the Kingdom of Far Far Away, where the story of “Shrek” unfolds.

About the show: "Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek ..." And thus begins the musical tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and feisty Princess Fiona who resists her own rescue. Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero: Shrek!

Sponsored by Orthopaedic and Fracture Clinic and Farrish Johnson Law Office, “Shrek” runs 7:30 p.m. June 26-July 1 in the Ted Paul Theatre, Earley Center for Performing Arts, Minnesota State Mankato.

Tickets are $22 regular; $19 for seniors ages 65 and older, children under 16 and groups of 15 or more; and $15 for Minnesota State Mankato students. Call the Box Office at 507-389-6661, or visit for more information about tickets.
