Minnesota State University, Mankato Centennial Student Union News Release, 9-26-2018

Joining Minnesota State University, Mankato's Sesquicentennial Celebration, the Centennial Student Union's ongoing Serendipity Music Series presents the Galactic Cowboy Orchestra on the Fountain Mall on Tuesday, Oct. 2, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Rain site will be the Flex Programming Space in the CSU lower level.

The talented, four-piece Galactic Cowboy Orchestra covers many genres in their crazy eclectic music mix that they label as art-rock jazz fusion. "Call it what you will, but it's artsy is hell and it ROCKS," says band member John Wright.

The band covers songs from Otis Rush's "All Your Love" to Allman Brothers "Whipping Post" to Led Zeppelin's "When the Levee Breaks."

Wright said the band also writes and performs original music “that excites them.”

The GCO’s superior musicianship delivers a “solid riff, hummable melody and groovy jam” over a musical foundation of jazz-rock.

Upcoming Serendipity Music Series performances in the Centennial Student Union include: Wednesday, Oct. 17, Paul “Mayo” Mayasich, Minnesota Blues Hall of Fame guitarist; Wednesday, Nov. 14, Church of Cash, Johnny Cash Tribute; Tuesday, Dec. 11, OK Factor, violin-cello duo. All performances are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The CSU’s Serendipity Music Series spotlights Minnesota musicians in an ongoing line-up on two-hour, mid-day, mid-week “street corner serenades” dedicated to exposing the campus and Mankato area community to a wide range of music genres. All performances are free to the public.
