Oct. 11: Contemporary Vocal Groups

MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato's Department of Music will present two contemporary a cappella vocal groups in concert 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11 in Halling Recital Hall. Maverick Vocal Precision and Maverick Fusion vocal ensembles feature a cappella stylings of vocal groups such as Pentatonix, Rockapella, and Backtrack. Stephanie Thorpe coordinates the two ensembles.

Early next year, Maverick Vocal Precision will perform at the SingStrong Workshop at Adelphi University in Garden City, N.Y. The February all-vocal event consists of five concerts and two days of classes and coachings, all featuring nothing but the human voice. Event profits support various charities, and ticket and merchandise proceeds support music programs with a special focus on singing and a cappella music. Audiences will hear pop, jazz, rock, broadway, barbershop, reggaetone, beatbox and more – all performed a cappella.

Concert admission for the Thursday, Oct. 11 concert is $9 for general admission and $7 for students with a valid MavCard. Discount tickets are available online for University students. Advance purchase is strongly encouraged. Those who wish to purchase tickets online should go to
