Oct. 17: Minnesota Blues Hall of Fame Guitarist to Perform

Minnesota Blues Hall of Fame Guitarist Paul “Mayo” Mayasich will perform in Minnesota State University, Mankato's Centennial Student Union on Wednesday, Oct. 17, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. as part of the CSU’s ongoing Serendipity Music Series.

The free performance will be in the Lincoln Lounge on the CSU Main Level.

Inducted into the Minnesota Blues Hall of Fame in 2016 as Best Performer, Mayasich is a native of the Iron Range and part of the Twin Cities blues scene for more than three decades. His unique blues guitar style has made him a popular side-man for regional and national recording artists. He latest release, Threads, is among Mayasich’s critically-acclaimed CDs. He also wrote five of the songs on the CD by Blue Chamber with Big John Dickerson include the title track, Arms of the Blues, which went on to win the Minnesota Music Award for Best Blues recording for 2000.

Mayasich will be joined by bass player John Wright who has performed at two previous Serendipity Music Series sessions by Lehto & Wright and the Oct. 2 performance by Galactic Cowboy Orchestra.

Upcoming Serendipity Music Series performances in the CSU include: Wednesday, Nov. 14, Church of Cash, Johnny Cash Tribute, in the CSU Lincoln Lounge; and Tuesday, Dec. 11, OK Factor, violin-cello duo Finals Week performance in the CSU Hearth Lounge. All performances are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The CSU’s Serendipity Music Series spotlights Minnesota musicians in two-hour, mid-day, mid-week “street corner serenades” dedicated to exposing the campus and Mankato area community to a wide range of music genres. All performances are free to the public.
