Dec. 15: Commencement Ceremonies at 9 a.m. and noon

University to award 1,745 degrees at end of fall semester.

Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato will award 1,745 degrees at the end of the fall semester, with commencement ceremonies scheduled for 9 a.m. and noon Saturday, Dec. 15 in Taylor Center’s Bresnan Arena on the Minnesota State Mankato campus.

Graduates of the College of Arts & Humanities, College of Business and College of Science, Engineering and Technology will participate in a 9 a.m. ceremony, and graduates of the College of Allied Health and Nursing, College of Education and College of Social and Behavioral Sciences will participate in a noon ceremony.

Viewers anywhere can access live-streamed and recorded video of each commencement ceremony on MavTUBE at mavtube.mnsu.edu.

Once again, Microsoft’s real-time transcription and translation services through Skype Meeting Broadcast will be used to provide real time closed-captioning in Arabic, French, Hindi, Hmong Daw, Spanish and English. Instructions for accessing the services will be posted at mavtube.mnsu.edu.

Candidates for graduate degrees will graduate with the college of their affiliation.

Graduate-level doctoral degrees to be presented include four doctor of education degrees.
Graduate-level master’s degrees to be presented include 11 master of accounting degrees, 44 master of arts degrees, seven master of fine arts degrees, 11 master of arts in teaching degrees, five master of business administration degrees, two master of music degrees, four master of public administration degrees, 220 master of science degrees, eight master of science in nursing degrees, 24 master of social work degrees, five professional science master degrees and 17 specialist in educational leadership degrees.

To be awarded at the undergraduate level are 56 bachelor of arts degrees, 23 bachelor of fine arts degrees, 1,207 bachelor of science degrees, 14 bachelor of science in general engineering degrees, one bachelor of science in civil engineering degrees, five bachelor of science in computer engineering degrees, eight bachelor of science in electrical engineering degrees, six bachelor of science in mechanical engineering degree, 30 bachelor of science in social work degrees and 33 associate of arts degrees.

(Note to Editors: The number of graduates does not equal number of degrees because some students earn more than one degree.)

Undergraduate students receiving recognition will include 92 students graduating summa cum laude (3.8 grade point average and higher), 197 students graduating magna cum laude and 188 students graduating cum laude.
