Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Student Events Team is hosting “A Night of Maverick Magic” Friday, Nov. 1 at 8 p.m. in Bresnan Arena, located on campus in the Taylor Center.

The event, free and open to the public, will include a comedic illusionist, featured acts by an aerialist and LED hula hoopers.

A Student Events Team preview described host and emcee Pip as an Australian magician, comedian, illusionist, actor and hypnotist. According to the event preview, Pip has made appearances on “Australia’s Got Talent” and also performs in Las Vegas at the Hard Rock Casino, The Cosmopolitan, The Downtown Grand and the Palms.

In addition, aerialist Mimi Ke will also be performing throughout the evening. Ke graduated from the professional training program at the Frequent Flyers Aerial Dance in Boulder, Colorado, according to the Student Events Team.

Also performing during the night are the Amazing Hoopsters, a family of six from Hutchinson, Minn. The preview described the Amazing Hoopsters’ performance as “spectacular hooping tricks choreographed to an artistic hoop dance performance.”

After the show, spectators can visit with the performers and try the tricks first hand.

“A Night of Maverick Magic” is one of the activities held during Minnesota State Mankato’s Nov. 1-3 Family Weekend.

Minnesota State Mankato’s Student Events Team is a student-led organization that produces fun, interactive and educational events for students to create lifelong memories and celebrate their Maverick pride. The Student Events Team meets every Tuesday at 4 p.m. in Centennial Student Union 245, and students interested in joining or volunteering with the group are welcome to attend the meetings.

Minnesota State Mankato, a comprehensive university with 14,297 students, is part of the Minnesota State system, which includes 30 colleges and seven universities.
