An all-day "Windstock" festival is planned for Nov.  21 in the Centennial Student Union ballroom to rally support for wind power turbines on the Minnesota State University campus.

The University's Students For Sustainability organization is sponsoring the day of activities, which take place from 10 am. to 4 p.m. The group recently gathered 1,400 signatures encouraging the construction of a wind turbine on campus and will use Windstock to generate more support through petition-signing.

Four speakers will discuss various aspects of wind power throughout the event, which will also feature information tables from the Department of Natural Resources; short informational films, refreshments, games and petitions.

Speaking at the event are:

Minnesota State University's College of Science Engineering and Technology Dean John Frey, 10:30 a.m.

Gustavus Adolphus College Environmental Studies Chairman Jeff Jeremiason, noon. Students for Sustainability president Mark Schiller, 1 p.m.

Minnesota State Mankato physics professor Louis Schwartzkopf, 2:30 p.m.

"We encourage anyone in the community who's concerned with energy consumption to stop by, show their support and sign the petition," said Schiller.
