Undecided about your major?

Get advising at the Office of New Student & Family Programs!

Many students come to college undecided about their major. Some research suggests that 70% of students will change majors before they graduate - suggesting that even more students are undecided than they realize when they begin college.

The Office of New Student & Family Programs provides advising for all students (even if you're past your first year) who haven't picked a major yet, or who may be unsure of their initial choice of major. If you're considering a couple different majors, we can refer you to resources who can offer more information about different programs.

When you make an appointment with an undecided advisor, come prepared by completing the steps below:

1. Fill out an [PDF] Advising Worksheet (171 KiB)
2. Log onto E-services. Go to Grades & Transcripts, and select Interactive Degree Audit (this is your DARS report). Print your DARS, noting what Goal Areas you have left to fulfill. Bring this to your appointment.
3. Review your Undergraduate Bulletin. Check out any majors of interest. Use the list of [PDF] General Education Courses (189 KiB) to come up with ideas for courses you may like to take to complete remaining Goal Areas.
4. Create a list of courses you would like to take next semester. Include backup courses.
