LC students who have signed up to participate in Priority Move In and Move Crew can move in to McElroy and Preska Residence Communities on Wednesday, August 22 from 11 am to 3 pm. Details were provided in students' Orientation packets and emailed out; contact Kate Hansen in the Office of New Student and Family Programs with questions.
As a part of Priority Move In Day, a dessert reception and Move Crew training will be provided at 7:30 pm in the Carkoski Commons Dining Hall. Students will receive their Move Crew shift assignments and free t-shirt. Dress is casual and comfortable.
The dining facilities will NOT be open for dinner, so plan to just join us for dessert. The reception and training are just for students, so we ask that families say their good-byes before this event.
Each learning community will be assigned a shift together at one of our four residence communities. You'll work hard, assisting other new students with their move-in. You might be helping unload cars (but NOT moving things up to students' rooms), handing out maps, giving directions, etc.
The author of our common read book, The Unforgiving Minute, will be on campus for a speaking engagement and question-and-answer session, followed by a book signing. For more information on our learning communities program common read, please visit www.mnsu.edu/newstudent/communities/commonread.html. This event is free and open to the public.
Get your game face on! Join us for free fun, bowling, and billiards in the Maverick Bullpen, in the lower level of the Centennial Student Union. The Bullpen will be reserved for learning community students and friends only! Be sure to bring your MavCard!
This will be a night to relax and acknowledge the accomplishments our LC students make during the fall semester. After dinner and presentations, we'll welcome ComedySportz, an improv comedy group from Minneapolis, to campus for some laughs! By invitation only: learning community students, faculty, staff, and administrators will be invited.
These events are for all learning communities. For Individual learning community events please contact your Learning Community Coordinator. Check back often for new events and updates!
