Family Orientation Dates

Twelve different Summer Orientation dates are offered throughout June and July for family/guests. Each session begins about 12:30 p.m. on day one and concludes about 4:00 p.m. on day two. Invitations for Summer Orientation will be sent out in mid-February. Once your student receives an invitation, he/she must register the family member/guests on his/her reservation. Students can register for Orientation online or by mailing in his/her registration form.

  • Session 5: June 19-20, 2013 (Wednesday-Thursday) Session is Full
  • Session 6: June 24-25, 2013 (Monday-Tuesday) Session is Full
  • Session 7: June 26-27, 2013 (Wednesday-Thursday) Session is Full
  • Session 8: July 8-9, 2013 (Monday-Tuesday) Session is Full
  • Session 9: July 10-11, 2013 (Wednesday-Thursday) Session is Full
  • Session 10: July 15-16, 2013 (Monday-Tuesday) Females Spaces for Students Full
  • Session 11: July 17-18, 2013 (Wednesday-Thursday)
  • Session 12: July 22-23, 2013 (Monday-Tuesday)

    Please note that there is not a separate Family Orientation registration for guests in August and January; however family and guests are still welcome to attend.

Students are required to attend the entire two day Orientation program in order to register for classes. Family and guests are encouraged to attend as much as the program as possible. Program check-in begins at 10:15 a.m. on day one, and typically ends by 4:00 p.m. on day two. Lunch is not included on day one of Orientation. 

Day One Overview

10:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Orientation Check-in (Preska Residence Hall Community)

Pre-Orientation Sessions (10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.)

  • Financial Aid Information Sessions
  • Student ID (MavCARD) Appointments (Appointments and locations are assigned/provided at check-in)

1:00 p.m.: Orientation Begins (Ballroom, Centennial Student Union)

1:00-5:00 p.m.: Information Sessions

  • Academic Expectations and Information by major/college
  • Student Financial Services-Financial Aid
  • Residential Life
  • Dining Services

5:15- 6:15 p.m.: Dinner

6:30-8:30 p.m. : Nighttime Orientation Activities

  • A student panel
  • Meeting other parents and family members
  • Family social and activities 
     

Day Two Overview

7:15-8:30 a.m.: Room Checkout and Breakfast

8:30-9:30 a.m. Campus Resource and Office Fair

9:30-11:15 a.m.: Information Sessions

  • Student Financial Services-Billing and Important Dates

11:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Lunch
