New Student Orientation is a two day experience designed for first year students and families entering Minnesota State University, Mankato. You will receive valuable information from various campus offices and departments, meet other first year students, complete advising and registration, and work with staff members to help you with your transition into college. Family Orientation attendance is not required; however family is strongly encouraged to participate. Family members/guests register for Orientation by including their information on the student’s Orientation registration. More information on the Family Orientation program can be found at the Family Orientation and Resources page.
Orientation attendance and advising is required for all first year students to register for classes. Students not able to attend Orientation in June or July should expect to attend a late Orientation in August.
Academic Year Orientation is a one day experience designed to inform you about Minnesota State University, Mankato’s procedures and policies, as well as assist you with advising and registration. There is not a specific Family Orientation; however guests can attend with their student.
August Orientation is designed for first year students who were unable to attend Orientation programs in June and July. Orientation registration for August does not occur until late July.
January Orientation is designed for first year students who are beginning courses in the Spring Semester. Orientation registration for January does not occur until mid-October.
