New Student Orientation

New Student On-Campus Orientation Option: Fall 2024

After registering for orientation, you will be enrolled into online modules to complete at your own pace.  Some modules may need to be completed before attending the on-campus orientation.  During the selected on-campus orientation date you will meet your peers, current student leaders, university staff, and advisors to learn more about campus resources and complete course registration. You will be able to familiarize yourself with campus while attending orientation which can make the move-in and first week of classes less stressful. The on-campus option is a day long experience starting in the morning and ending before dinner.  A Family Orientation will be offered simultaneously to the student orientation.

Fall 2024 On-Campus Orientation Dates:   

April 19 (full), 26 (full)

June 3, 10, 12, 14, 17, 21

July 10, 12, 15, 19

New Student Online Orientation Option: Fall 2024

After registering for an online orientation session, you will be enrolled in online modules to complete at your own pace.  Some modules may need to be completed before attending the Academic Advising & Registration component of orientation.  During the selected orientation date, you will join a Zoom room to go over important Academic Advising & Registration information.  During the Zoom orientation session, you will select a separate meeting time for course registration which will also take place over Zoom.

Fall 2024 Online Orientation Dates:

June 4, 24

July 22

New students will also have the opportunity to register for an optional Virtual Connection Lab.  These connection labs are facilitated by student leaders on campus who will meet with you over Zoom to answer your questions and connect you with other incoming new students.  These hour long sessions are a great way to meet others and become more familiar with campus from the comfort of your own home.

Orientation has a fee of $75.00.

Refund Policy:

Orientation reservations may be canceled by phone (507-389-5498Phone Icon) at least five (5) business days prior to your scheduled orientation session date. You will receive a partial refund of 50% of the fee of the orientation if a cancellation request is submitted at least five (5) business days prior to your scheduled session date. Those who do not give five business days’ notice, or do not show up, will be charged the entire program fee.

Here are a few things you should bring with to your on-campus orientation!

  • Photo identification
    Photo ID is needed to check-in to orientation and a goverment issued photo ID is needed to get your MavCARD (Student ID card).
     
  • Know your StarID and StarID password
    You will need your StarID and StarID password to register for classes at orientation.  If you forgot your StarID or StarID password go to StarID Self Service to look up your information. If you have not activated your StarID, go to Register for Orientation page and review the "Know Star ID" instructions.
     
  • Unofficial or official transcripts of any college level course work you have completed
    This will help your academic advisors to better serve you in the advising and registration labs.
      
  • Casual clothes and comfortable walking shoes
    We will be walking between University buildings throughout the day, so it's important to dress appropriately.
     
  • Umbrella
    It's best to be prepared for the occasional rain shower, as we will be walking on campus.
