Special Bus Keychain - Use Rules

A Special Bus Keychain is provided to those buying a purple, orange, or dark green permit. When traveling through campus, this bus keychain provides a free bus ride between the campus core buildings and distant MSU parking lots. The bus keychain is not honored if presented in the Free Lot (Lot 23) as that lot is designed for non-permit holder use - permit holders should be parked in Lot 20, 20a, 21, and 22. If a non-permit holder wants to ride a bus, they should buy a $45 semester bus pass, a $16 thirty day bus pass, or pay $0.50 per ride within the "U-Zone". The bus keychain privilege is designed for only on-campus use - keychain users wanting to ride to an off-campus location can expect to pay $0.50 per ride as the keychain is invalid in such circumstances.

Thomas Williams
Student Association President
Last Spring's 2010-11 Annual Gold Permit drawing was held on Tuesday, April 20, 2010. Thomas Williams, at that time the newly elected Student Association President, pushed the magic button (featured left) that kicked in the computerized random selection process for the Faculty/Staff Gold Permit Drawing and the separate Student Drawing. The drawing system automatically and randomly populates the gold database with all of the entries for full and part-time employees working on campus. The next step in the process had the computer randomly populate the data base with the Drawing Sequence Numbers. The third step had the computer assign the permits by sequence number and choice. Whatever 12 month Gold Permits were leftover went into the second drawing for students. A few years ago this two-drawing system was agreed to by the Student Association in recognition that employees have a point about being able to get the core campus closer-in Gold permit stalls without having to directly compete with students. Now the bulk of the student Gold permit holders can be found in Lot 16 Gold (Performing Arts) and Lot 7 (old tennis court by Blakeslee Stadium across from the Myers Field House).
