Goals Summary

Following presentations by the group leaders, Dr. Davenport asked for the retreat participants to identify those goals that seemed to come up most frequently in the group discussions. Those that were mentioned most often include:

  • Marketing plan
  • Diversity (students, faculty, staff)

  • Process of shared governance

Group 1

Values:

Goals:

  • Evaluate campus space for use to best support/enhance learning
    • Technology/knowledge and use

    • Legislators/Chancellor's Office

Goals:

  • Attract, retain faculty/staff/students of color, consistent with national availability
  • Increase funds raised for:
    • Scholarships, talent grants for qualified students
    • Professional development opportunities for faculty/staff/administration
      • Hire full-time Directors of Development for each of six colleges/library/graduate school
      • Hire Director of Planned Giving
  • Establish MSU guidelines for E-Learning, followed by appropriate training
  • Market existing programs in Elementary Education and Health Care careers to meet workforce needs
