Strategic Priority Definitions

University Priority 1

Develop and Implement Campus-wide Plans

Using a process that is inclusive and includes all segments of the University, Minnesota State University, Mankato will move forward with the following:

1. Public Relations & Marketing
   Minnesota State University, Mankato will develop a marketing plan to promote MSU, Mankato as a "modern university" known for providing relevant, high quality undergraduate and graduate programs throughout the region and state.
2. Enrollment Management Plan
   Minnesota State University, Mankato will develop an enrollment management plan to determine the overall size of the university and the composition of the student body.
3. Campus Facilities Master Plan
   Minnesota State University, Mankato will continue activities related to the development and refinement of the University's Campus Master Plan, including the integration of an outdoor recreation and athletic plan and the facilities plans developed for the Student Union and Residential Life.
4. Fundraising
   Minnesota State University, Mankato will increase financial support from the private sector.

Promote Diversity

Minnesota State University, Mankato will develop a comprehensive institution-wide diversity plan.

University Priority 3

Establish a Distance Learning Plan

Minnesota State University, Mankato will create an administrative structure and funding mechanisms that will support high quality distance learning instruction.

University Priority 4

Review and Enhance Graduate Education

Minnesota State University, Mankato will develop funding mechanisms which permit the University to grow and improve select graduate programs (on-campus, off-campus, technologically mediated distance, and hybrid.

University Priority 5

Enhance Academic Excellence in Undergraduate Studies

Minnesota State University, Mankato will continue to assess and improve academic programs, and uphold and strengthen standards for academic achievement.

University Priority 6

International Programs

Minnesota State University, Mankato will promote study abroad experiences for domestic students, to enrich the multi-cultural environment, to enhance services, and to increase the number of international students studying at MSU.

University Priority 7

Creating a Campus Culture of Wellness

MSU seeks to identify deliberate ways to assist the University community in optimizing health and wellness in an effort to enhance intellectual proficiency, job performance, and overall individual well being.
